Downstream pilot operated steam pressure reducing regulator

Code: R220

The R220 Valve is a pilot operated single seat control valve with piston actuator. The valve plug is vee port design to enhance wide range control. The pilot is mounted on top of the main valve so that any condensed steam can be returned to the main flow.

Operation

A tapping from the valve inlet is piped to the pilot inlet, supplying operating steam. The pilot sensing chamber is connected to the valve outlet pipe (by the customer), and the pilot output connects to the main valve actuator. An increase in controlled outlet pressure makes the pilot valve close decreasing the pressure to the actuator. This tending to close the main valve and restore the desired pressure. The actuator exhausts downstream through an adjustable bleed valve on the pilot (to control hunting).
